Aberdeen Proving GroundsWe just began CWOC in Aberdeen Proving Ground in October 2005. It was inactive for several years, so instead of electing a President, Vice President, Secretary etc., we had the ladies sign up for different tasks which included 1)Theme - Program - Activities 2) Hospitality - Welcoming - Name tags (we are now making "permanent" ones, Decorations and 3)Refreshments. It has gotten a lot of women involved and using their gifts. We have done several projects - Special Christmas baskets for military families, a special meal for the military (25 military persons came), constructing relevant and creative bulletin boards in the Chapel, and now have on-going projects such as two ladies each month signed up to take goodies to the "Coffee House" the first Thursday of the month, a Prayer Chain, helping with exhibitions at Newcomer Orientation, and helping with all the other Chapel events. The CWOC will be bringing Soup and Bread for one of the Wednesday night Stations of the Cross and are compiling a "Lenten Meatless Recipe" booklet to distribute at our next CWOC meeting on Feb. 27th. On April 24th we will be having a speaker from the Archdiocese of Baltimore on the topic of "Spirituality of Relationships". Because of all the Chapel activities we will have only one meeting during March, April and May. We might even meet over the summer. We will be having two persons attend the MCCW Training on April 21-22 at Ft. Lee. After that, and informing the CWOC what MCCW is all about, I think the local CWOC will be ready to elect some officers following a discerning and prayerful process. We have a list of about 30 women and have anywhere from 11-15 who attend quite regularly. We meet twice a month on Monday nights from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Please include us on the MCCW website under the Northeast Region. I will keep you posted until we elect officers.
