MCCW CharityThe Seminarian Fund Co-sponsorship Program at the Archdiocese for the Military Services. The charity was chosen at MCCW-Worldwide Conference in October 2006 and should be listed on the Website as our official charity until the next Worldwide Conference in 2008. The purpose of this charity is to support future priests for the military services. Donations are placed in the Seminarian Fund at the AMS. The Co-sponsorship Program pays for half of a seminarian's tuition. To be eligible, a candidate must be sponsored by a civilian diocese who is willing to allow future work as a priest in the military services. After ordination and a period of time ministering in their civilian diocese, the new priest is then "on loan" to the military services as a Catholic Chaplain. Currently there are 20 seminarians participating in the AMS Co-sponsorship Program. And at this time there are seven more in the discernment process. They not only need our financial support, but our prayers as well. Catholic Chaplains fill less than half of the slots available in our military services and some chapels are looking eliminating their Catholic program because the need for priests is so great. To donate: Make checks payable to: Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA Subject line: Seminarian Co-Sponsorship Program (MCCW) Please mail the checks to: David M. Levite Vice Chancellor for Development Archdiocese for the Military Services PO Box 4469 Washington DC 20017-0469 When a Chapel Group or Region mails a donation check to AMS, they also must email Karen Patton, Charity Resource Coordinator for MCCW-Worldwide at charity@mccw-worldwide.org. Notifying Karen allows MCCW to track donations and confirm with AMS that they are receiving donations for deposit into the fund.
